Kinsen, Ginsen and carbonated water in one place — Arima’s only onsen theme park
Taiko-no-yu, themed on Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s beloved Arima, is a “historical spa theme park” and the town’s largest day-use facility. Kinsen — a rare spring originating from ancient seawater — plus clear Ginsen and carbonated water fill about 26 baths, indoor, open-air and stone-sauna, and the Azuchi-Momoyama-style steam bath “Taiko no Yuden” is included. Loungewear and towels come with admission, and dining ranges from kaiseki to a period-style food court, so most guests stay half a day or more. A pond on the grounds is home to giant salamanders.
Tips & cautions
- Three price tiers (weekday / weekend / special) plus ¥75 bath tax (waived under 6 and for elementary pupils on weekdays). The night plan after 19:30 saves about ¥800.
- Advance coupons on Asoview, Jalan etc. are common (up to ~40% off); the official app and “Hyotan Club” also give discounts.
- Strictly no tattoos, no re-entry, no outside food.
- Book a 30-min slot for Taiko no Yuden at the Yudenya counter (first yukata free).
- Free shuttle from Arima-Onsen Station. Have parking validated at the front desk for 4 free hours.
- Some holiday dates open early at 9:00 — check notices.
Getting there
About 8 min on foot or by free shuttle from Arima-Onsen Station (Arima-cho Ikenoshiri 292-2). Highway buses from Osaka/Sannomiya to the Arima Onsen terminal, then ~10 min on foot. ~10 min from Arimaguchi IC.

The most popular of Kinosaki's seven public baths. In a building modeled on the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a waterfall rotenburo faces the hillside and a glass-roofed 'sky bath' sits indoors, all renovated in 2020. Overnight guests get free entry with the 'Yumepa' pass, so evenings are busy with yukata-clad bathers — go at 7 am when it opens.
Kin-no-Yu
The public bathhouse of Arima, one of Japan's three oldest hot springs. For ¥800 you can soak in the 'kinsen' — iron- and salt-rich water that turns rusty brown on contact with air, in pools at 42°C and 44°C. Under an hour by train from Kobe or Osaka, so an easy day trip. Free foot bath and drinking fountain outside. No tattoos.
Ichi-no-Yu (Kinosaki outer bath)
Kinosaki's flagship outer bath, praised as 'the best under heaven' by an Edo-period physician. Its cave bath carved into rock is the draw; the kabuki-theatre-style building is the town's landmark.
