A middle option between the public baths and the theme park
Hotel Maple Arima sits on a rise southeast of the onsen town and opens its main bath to day visitors. Arima day-bathing splits into the public baths Kin-no-yu/Gin-no-yu (¥550–800, indoor only, crowded) and the Taiko-no-yu theme park (from ¥2,750, half a day); Maple Arima sits in between at ¥1,360 for six baths including a rotenburo and sauna, usually uncrowded. The water is radium-type Ginsen — for brown Kinsen choose Kin-no-yu or Taiko-no-yu.
Tips & cautions
- Closed 11:00–13:00 for cleaning — go 9–11 or after 13:00.
- It is uphill from the centre; the hotel shuttle or a taxi is easier.
- Busier after 15:00 check-in.

Getting there
About 15 min uphill on foot from Arima-Onsen Station, or ~5 min by hotel shuttle/taxi (Arima-cho 406-3). ~10 min from Arimaguchi IC; free parking.

Gosho-no-Yu (Kinosaki outer bath)
The most popular of Kinosaki's seven public baths. In a building modeled on the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a waterfall rotenburo faces the hillside and a glass-roofed 'sky bath' sits indoors, all renovated in 2020. Overnight guests get free entry with the 'Yumepa' pass, so evenings are busy with yukata-clad bathers — go at 7 am when it opens.
Kin-no-Yu
The public bathhouse of Arima, one of Japan's three oldest hot springs. For ¥800 you can soak in the 'kinsen' — iron- and salt-rich water that turns rusty brown on contact with air, in pools at 42°C and 44°C. Under an hour by train from Kobe or Osaka, so an easy day trip. Free foot bath and drinking fountain outside. No tattoos.
Ichi-no-Yu (Kinosaki outer bath)
Kinosaki's flagship outer bath, praised as 'the best under heaven' by an Edo-period physician. Its cave bath carved into rock is the draw; the kabuki-theatre-style building is the town's landmark.
